For the 5th consecutive year, HC will again participate in the University of Waterloo’s COMPASS Survey on April 5, 2017, during Period 1. The COMPASS study is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and it examines health related behaviours including healthy eating, marijuana use, physical activity, alcohol use, smoking, sedentary behaviour, bullying, school connectedness as well as academic achievement among a group of students over 5 years.
This is a confidential survey and no names are written on the papers. The goal of this data collection is to gather information about youth health and to establish effective policies and practices related to youth health. If students choose to participate, they will complete a questionnaire which includes questions about their height and weight. Students are asked to have this info with them on April 5th. The survey has been reviewed and received ethics clearance from the University of Waterloo’s Office of Research Ethics.
