Holy Cross has an innovative guitar program headed by Mr. Vincenzo Stabile who teaches all guitar classes.
Students are introduced to the guitar course in grade 9 where they are given the opportunity to learn preliminary music theory, chording, & tablature; no prior musical experience is necessary. As the semester progresses, students of grade 9 guitar are exposed to performance both in and outside the classroom. Coffee Houses are scheduled in each semester and all students are encouraged to audition with covers of popular songs or originally written pieces.
Following their introduction to guitar in grade 9, students are able to further pursue their study of the guitar at the 10/11 and 12 grade levels. Students in these grade levels participate in the newest edition "Originals" concert where students are given the opportunity to showcase their newly written original songs (a course component). Additional performance opportunities include the spring Coffee House and Cabaret; a night of entertainment organized by our very own Grade 11 Drama class. Guitar classes here at Holy Cross are enthusiastic about music and performance as they help to cultivate the talents of student artists.
