Grade 11 Students take Gold at Loyalist Skills Competition

Congratulations to Billy Baes and Katarina Ralf, for placing gold at the Loyalist College Skills Competition on Monday.
 
The grade 11 St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School students competed alongside​ 70+ students from four local school boards. Baes took home the gold medal in Electrical and Ralf took home the gold medal in Esthetics. The gold medalists will receive a $1000 tuition credit, which can be applied towards any program at Loyalist College.

“Both students worked very hard in their respective competitions and received their medals at the awards ceremony last night at Loyalist College”, said Christa Ray, ALCDSB OYAP Recruiter. Ray also noted the contributions of ALCDSB dual credit teacher, Natasha Jabre teacher and Robert Muirhead, who encouraged and helped prepare the students for the competition.
 
About the Loyalist College Skills Competition 
The Loyalist College Skills Competition offers participants a multitude of skill-based challenges spanning various disciplines, including Automotive Service Technician, Baking, 2D Character Animation, Electrical, Esthetics, Photography, Precision Machining, Carpentry and Welding.
 
Each competition offers students the opportunity to demonstrate their expertise and passion in their chosen field, with the chance to earn prizes and recognition for their hard work.
 
Winners in each competition category will have the chance to claim Gold, Silver, or Bronze. Prize values can go toward tuition at any program at Loyalist College, with Gold medalists receiving $1000 toward tuition at Loyalist College, Silver medalists receiving $600, and Bronze medalists receiving $400.
