St. Martha Catholic School is pleased to share that their “Playground Rejuvenation Project" will now include a fully accessible play structure to support the outdoor enjoyment of all students.

This rejuvenation project has been a primary focus of the Catholic School Council fundraising this year and could not have been possible without the generous grant from Pittsburg Community Benefit Fund.

The Pittsburgh Community Benefit Fund (PCBF) is mandated to provide support, benefits and assistance to the residents of the community by developing and fostering community spirit, promoting organized athletics, arts, education or civic emergency.

“We are blessed to have been awarded this grant money for our playground rejuvenation project," said Lisa Bickerstaffe, principal of St. Martha Catholic School. “This grant will go towards our fully accessible play structure which will benefit all learners in our Catholic school community."

“It is important to our Catholic school community to ensure equity of opportunities for all students and having a fully accessible play structure allows us to fulfill this vision,' Bickerstaffe said.

“On behalf of all students, staff and families at St. Martha Catholic School, I want to thank the Pittsburg Community Benefit Fund for supporting this project," Bickerstaffe said.

Thank you to the St. Martha Catholic School Council, who applied for the grant in January 2023. While this grant contributed to a large portion of the equipment, the Catholic School Council is still fundraising money for the remainder of the cost of the play structure and playground rejuvenation project.
