During the spring of 2024, the ALCDSB will be putting on a Silent Auction concurrent with Catholic Education Week during the first week of May to raise funds for the Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic Education Foundation.
For GivingTuesday on November 28, we invite all to participate by donating an auction item, gift card or cash to purchase an item that will go toward the auction. See examples for items below. Please ensure that any donated items will not spoil by August 2024 at the earliest.
GivingTuesday, dubbed the world's largest generosity movement, was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. It is annually in November on the Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
GivingTuesday was founded in 2013 in Canada by CanadaHelps.org, GIV3 and several other founding partners. GivingTuesday has active movements in more than 80 countries, working year-round to inspire generosity around the world, with a common mission to create a world where giving is part of everyday life.
Since 2007, the ALCE Foundation has provided more than $500,000 in financial assistance to over 1,400 students and their families. Families are supported through a discreet process between schools and the Office of the Director of Education, on behalf of the Foundation. The goal of the Foundation is to help families in our school communities needing urgent financial assistance, in times of challenge, with unexpected expenses such as eyeglasses, medical supplies, food, clothing and transportation.
