Members of the St. Peter Catholic Parish in Trenton meet with Director of Education David DeSantis and Trustee Terry Shea in preparation of the demolition to the old St. Peter Catholic School site.

Details about this demolition project will be shared with community members soon.

History of St. Peter Catholic School

Our strong tradition of Catholic education in Trenton began in 1860 when a small one-room school house was built at at 101 Queen Street. In 1884, a second school was built at the corner of King and Queen Streets. Teaching positions were held by the Congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Ville Marie, Montreal until 1902 when the Sisters of Charity from the House of Providence, Kingston took over the running of the school.

Reverend M. McDonald supervised the construction of the Queen Street location in 1925. The new addition was built in 1977 and it included the library, gymnasium, and kindergarten rooms.

Our new school, located on Tripp Blvd, was opened in January 2014. We are blessed with a vibrant and growing learning environment comprised of 20 classrooms and a beautiful gymnasium. Our yards are a wonderful place in which our students learn and play. Our Peace Garden, designed by students and built by parents and staff, was completed in May of 2014.  In 2022 a beautiful shade structure was added as this special place continues to be used for learning and faith formation.

The St. Peter Catholic School crest was designed by a former student and accurately depicts our multicultural tradition as well as our spiritual commitment to Catholic Education in Trenton.
