ALCDSB's very own Natasha Jabre, yearbook teacher at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in Kingston, took home the First Place prize for her painting showcased at the Kingston School of Art's Fifth Annual Juried Art Exhibition this week.
The painting, named Emma at 4, is a photo of Jabre's daughter.

“Emma at 4 is the culmination of several months of studio work aimed at blending compositions used by famous artist, Lilias Torrance Newton, and my own colourful realist style. I have received a lot of positive reception about my new work and feel emboldened to keep pursuing my unique style," says Jabre.
Approximately 170 artworks were displayed at the exhibition from across the region. The 12 winners were chosen by three jurors and were awarded $1,500 collectively.
“I am honoured to exhibit alongside other local Kingston artists at the Kingston School of Art's Fifth Annual Juried Art Exhibition," Jabre says.
Jabre and her daughter accepted the prize together.
