Regi Pays Tribute to Long-time Educator with Honourable Coaching Recognition Award

March 07, 2024

Long-time ALCDSB educator and athletic coach, Pat Farrell, is retiring at the end of this school year after 25 years at Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic High School (RND).

At last week’s KASSAA Volleyball All Star Game, the organizers and coaches announced an award in his honour called “The Pat Farrell Volleyball Coaching Recognition Award." The award recognizes the following qualities in a coach, dedication to the sport of volleyball, positive role model to athletes and coaches, and an advocate for student athlete wellness.

The Pat Farrell Volleyball Coaching Recognition Award was given to two coaches from Limestone District School Board (LDSB) who are also retiring this year: L-R Jill Ardern, Pat Farrell and Elizabeth Steele-Drew.

Farrell, well known in the community for helping develop Kingston athletes in volleyball, and for creating the RND Cats Volleyball program for elementary aged athletes, will be missed by students and colleagues. “This award honours Farrell’s contributions and commitment to coaching and will hence be celebrated by the commitment of others for years to come,” said Jaime Emmerson, the school's athletic director.
