POLICY REVIEW PUBLIC MEETING

TAKE NOTICE that on Tuesday May 12, 2026, the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board will hold a public meeting pursuant to Section 257.60 of the Education Act (“Act”). The purpose of the first meeting will be to review the current education development charge policies of the Board and to solicit public input.  Any person who attends the meeting, whether in person or virtually, may make a representation to the Board in respect of the policies.  The Board will also consider any written submissions.

The Board’s policies for the current education development charge by-laws (applicable to the City of Kingston and the southern portion of the County of Lennox and Addington) are described in the education development charge background study which will be available on or after April 10, 2026, at the Board’s administration office, during regular office hours or through the following website: www.alcdsb.on.ca.

The Board will be considering two separate EDC Bylaws; one for the City of Kingston, and one for the southern portion of the County of Lennox and Addington (the portion that includes the Town of Greater Napanee, the Township of Loyalist including Amherst Island, the Township of Stone Mills, and the Township of Addington Highlands south of Provincial Highway No. 7). Each By-law will have its own EDC rates.

SUCCESSOR BY-LAW PUBLIC MEETING

Immediately following the conclusion of the policy review public meeting, the Board will hold a second public meeting pursuant to Section 257.63 of the Act on May 12 2026 to consider the continued imposition of education development charges in the City of Kingston and the imposition of education development charges in the southern portion of the County of Lennox and Addington, and to inform the public generally about the education development charge proposals.  The education development charge background study required under Section 257.61 of the Act setting out the Board’s education development charge proposals and the proposed EDC by-laws will be available on or after April 10 2026 at the Board’s administrative office, during regular office hours or through the Board’s website.

Public Meeting – In Consideration of By-Law Adoption –

The purpose of this meeting is to consider the enactment of a successor EDC by-law for the City of Kingston, and a new EDC by-law for the southern portion of the County of Lennox and Addington. All interested parties are invited to attend the three public meetings either in person or arranging with the board to attend virtually.

Any person who attends the meeting may make representation in respect of this matter.  Written submissions, filed in advance of the meeting, will also be considered. The Board would appreciate receiving written submissions one week prior to the Public Meetings, so that they may be distributed to trustees prior to the meetings.  Anyone wishing to attend the meeting in person, provide a written submission, or make a request to address the Board as a delegation, whether in person or virtually, should contact the office of the Director of Education (613-354-6257 x 445) at least eight (8) business days prior to the meeting.

In addition to the legislated public meetings indicated above, the Board has regularly scheduled Board meetings, at which the Board may receive information regarding education development charges.  Regular Board meeting procedures will apply to these meetings.
