International Baccalaureate
International Baccalaureate (I.B.) Diploma Program (DP)
The International Baccalaureate (I.B.) Diploma Program (DP) is a rigorous pre-university course of study designed for students in the 16 to 19 age range. IB is a broad-based two-year course that aims to encourage students to be knowledgeable and inquiring, but also caring and compassionate. There is a strong emphasis on encouraging students to develop intercultural understanding, open-mindedness, and the attitudes necessary for them to respect and evaluate a range of points of view.
The I.B. Diploma Program is an internationally recognized, rigorous and academically demanding program designed for highly motivated university-bound students. Students participating in the program will complete the requirements for their OSSD while simultaneously fulfilling the requirements for their I.B. Diploma.
I.B. Diploma requirements are fully integrated within the Ontario curriculum so that upon successful completion of the program, a student is awarded both the I.B. Diploma and the OSSD, both of which is recognized by many Canadian and international universities.
The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board offer the IB Diploma Program at two Secondary School locations; Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic High School in Kingston and Nicolson Catholic College in Belleville.
Students who enter the I.B. Program are required to pay a nominal fee. Contact your school of interest for updated costs.
