Celebrating the Launch of SWAC Program - East

The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB) is proud to launch its new School-Within-A-College (SWAC) pathway program in partnership with St. Lawrence College - an exciting step forward in supporting student success and post-secondary readiness.

The 2026 graduating class boasts enrolment of 12 students from the Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic High School and Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School communities.

SWAC St. Lawrence College Program Launch Ceremony
ALCDSB Trustees, administrators and senior staff celebrate the launch of the School With-in a College (SWAC) program at St. Lawrence College in Kingston.

Courses currently being offered range from hands-on experiential learning like Workplace Prep, Exploring Trades and Technology, Fitness Training, Wellness and Makeup, to the study of Developmental Psychology, Introduction to the Canadian Criminal Justice System, English, Math and Biology.

Designed for students aged 17 to 20 in the eastern part of the Board who are within five credits of earning their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), SWAC offers a unique, hands-on learning experience on a college campus.

Through this Ministry of Education-funded program, students gain the opportunity to complete their diploma, earn college-level credits, and build confidence in an adult learning environment, setting the stage for a smooth and successful transition to post-secondary education and beyond.

Building on a similar partnership with Loyalist College introduced last spring, this initiative continues to expand meaningful pathways for learners across the region.
