Today, the Catholic Character and Culture Committee in partnership with the Archdiocese of Kingston offered Witness: a faith day for all grade 6 students in the ALCDSB! The theme of the day was: You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses" (Acts 1:8). The day was to empower students to be witnesses to our Catholic faith.
Witness included praise and worship music led by the Josh Blakesley Band, a professional Catholic group whose music is included in many Oregon Catholic Press (OCP) hymnals, including Never Too Young. The band has extensive experience leading engaging music for young Catholics, including its involvement in the Steubenville Youth Conferences across North America (including Steubenville Toronto) and World Youth Day. In addition to the music, the day included a keynote by Josh Blakesley, Mass celebrated by Archbishop O'Brien, and two breakout sessions.
PD Day
Just a reminder that Friday, October 27th is a professional development day and there is no school for the students that day. It is a day for staff faith development.
Halloween Dance
The Grade 8 studnets will host a halloween dance for the students in the primary and junior grades on Halloween. Students will be ivited to the gym by class/division. To keep costumes safe for Halloween trick or treating we are requesting that studnets not wear costumes to school but dress in festive orange and black.
Progress Reports
The Progress Reports (Grades 1-8) and Communication of Learning (Kindergarten) will be going homwe November 7th. Parent Techer interviews will be on Novemeber 8th and 9th. Interview time forms will be sent home early next week

Sign up for payment on line The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board will soon be offering School Cash Online as its preferred method of payment for all school fees, everything from field trips to yearbooks.
School Cash Online allows parents to pay school related fees safely, quickly and easily. By using School Cash Online, you help increase efficiency and security at schools. Teachers and secretaries are then able to focus on helping students, and not counting cash.
School Cash Online shows all of the school fees available to your student online for purchase. You can also stay informed of upcoming events and keep track of which school fees require your attention.
More information can be found on www.alcdsb.on.ca and school websites. Updates will be sent to you over the coming weeks in preparation for the remainder of the 2017/2018 school year.
Screenagers Documentary
The Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic School Council, are focusing their outreach to parents this year on the Mental Health well-being of our youth. They have been approved for a Parents Reaching Out Grant from the Ministry of Education to have a viewing of the documentary, Screenagers, for parents with a discussion to follow looking at the connections of mental health and screen time use in today's youth. They are planning our evening for Wednesday, November 8, 2017 @ 6:30 pm, in the RND Cafetorium.
MacMillan's Fundraiser
Just a reminder that order forms (and money) are due back to the school by Monday October 30th for the fall fundraiser through MacMillan's. Our goal is sell 250 items as a school (approximately one order per child). The top fundraisers in each class and the top three family fundraisers will receive iTunes gift cards.
