Letter to Families Regarding Covid Reporting

January 25, 2022
January 25, 2022 Re: COVID-19 Case(s) in School Dear families, We are writing to you today to keep you updated on our practices surrounding COVID-19 cases in our school communities. We are aware that cases will be present. The Ministry of Education has announced School Boards are no longer required to report COVID-19. Families are not required to report positive cases to schools; however, if families choose to do so, we will share this information with you to the best of our ability. Schools are no longer considered high-risk settings. Individuals only exposed at school with all public health measures in place are not generally considered high-risk contacts and the class will not be dismissed. Individuals who test positive are asked to notify their close contacts of potential exposure to COVID-19. Students and staff may be advised to self-isolate as a close or high-risk contact based on their exposure to a case/symptomatic individual in the community or outside of school. We cannot share further information to ensure the privacy of personal health information. As Principal, I will continue to provide daily absenteeism rates through the Ministry’s absence reporting tool, and to comply with any other direction that I have been provided for reporting by the ALCDSB and the Ontario Ministry of Education. Families are reminded to continue to screen your student(s) daily for symptoms. The most up-to-date screening tool can be found here. It is critical that students do not attend if sick. Students who are symptomatic, or who test positive on PCR or RAT tests are asked to remain at home and follow the protocols as outlined by your local public health unit. Please know we continue to follow all public health directives to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 in schools as much as possible. If you have any questions, please contact the school.
