It was a pancake feast on Tuesday, March 1st to mark Shrove Tuesday, the day before the beginning of Lent and Ash Wednesday. In past times, Shrove Tuesday, also referred to as Pancake Tuesday, served as a convenient way for Christians to use up their flour, sugar, and eggs before fasting for Lent. Each student was provided a pancake or two with syrup to mark the occasion.
