Orange Shirt
Day. In June 2021, the federal government
passed legislation to make September 30th a federal statutory holiday
called the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange
Shirt Day. This day is a reminder that we must all be committed to ongoing
education and centering Indigenous Voice in our conversations. We observed 2 min and 15 seconds of silence today to acknowledge the
remains of 215 children uncovered at the Kamloops Residential School that
has led to the uncovering and confirmation of so many more lost lives.
During this time, we honoured and remembered the lives of these
children and their families and communities.
