Summer Numeracy/Literacy Learning Program (Grades 1/2)
The 2026 In-Person Summer Numeracy/Literacy Learning Program, offered at four school sites and serves 114 students, is funded and supported by the Ministry of Education, through the Council of Ontario Directors of Education (CODE). The program is a research-based initiative to support elementary school students (Grades 1-2) to maintain and/or increase their numeracy and literacy achievement levels.

This year, the Grade 1 and 2 programs will take place in person at each designated ALCDSB learning site. The program’s goal is to make a difference in student achievement and well-being. The Summer Learning Program will focus on developing basic literacy and numeracy skills. There will be an additional focus on developing learner profiles with our students to promote learner self-efficacy and student voice. Arts and recreational opportunities will also be woven into the program.

*The FOY program offers secondary school students an opportunity to gain valuable work experience, earn wages and a co-op credit, while facilitating literacy and numeracy programming to elementary school students
