Nicholson Completes 8th Mission Trip to Jamaica

A group of 9 students and 2 teachers from Nicholson Catholic College (NCC) travelled to Kingston, Jamaica from February 10 - 17 for a transformative mission trip focused on service, partnership, and faith.

During their time in Jamaica, the group took part in several meaningful service projects. They worked with preschoolers at Callaloo Mews School, completed painting projects, and participated in a house build in partnership with Food for the Poor Canada and Food for the Poor Jamaica.

Fundraising efforts led by students and their families prior to the trip helped fund a significant portion of the $25,000 house kit, making a lasting impact for a local family in need.

This year’s mission marks Nicholson’s eigth trip to Jamaica and the ninth home built through this partnership, a testament to the enduring relationships between Nicholson Catholic College, Food for the Poor, and the Archdiocese of Kingston, Jamaica.

On the last day of the mission trip, the group shared a pancake breakfast before making a courtesy visit to His Grace Archbishop Kenneth Richards at Holy Trinity Cathedral. During their visit, students toured the cathedral and learned about its rich history and traditions.

The experience not only strengthened Nicholson’s long-standing partnerships but also provided students with an opportunity to live out their faith through service, solidarity, and community.
