Robotics Teams Face Off at RND

Grade 9 students at Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic High School are diving into the world of robotics as part of their Technology and Skilled Trades (TAS1O) course. The program, split into three hands-on sections—robotics, construction, and culinary—gives students a taste of real-world skills, and also can be a lot of fun.

During the robotics unit, students learn block programming with Lego Spike Prime and apply the Engineering Design Process to tackle creative challenges. This term, the highlight was an eight-class project where teams researched, designed, and built robots capable of knocking their opponents off a plank. The competition not only tested their technical skills but also encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation.

With each section of TAS1O, RND continues to inspire the next generation of skilled trades professionals and tech innovators.
