Her poem, Listen Now Before it’s Too Late, was selected in April and publicly announced in June as the winner for the English Grades 7-8 Poem category of the provincial Young Authors Awards/Prix Jeunes Écrivains.
Students like Melanie, who placed at the Provincial level, will see their work published in book form, as a collection of winning entries.

Ontario Catholic teachers are proud to sponsor the annual Young Authors Awards, now in their 40th year. The awards celebrate the writing talents and accomplishments of students from kindergarten to Grade 12. Thousands of short stories, poems, and non-fiction articles (e.g. reflection or report) are submitted by students, in both English and French, each year.
