Celebrating PRIDE Across ALCDSB

As such, the ALCDSB has a beautiful opportunity to celebrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and compassionate love for all with distinctively Catholic language and a faith-based perspective.

We are beyond blessed to have families, students and staff who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ in our schools and in our communities. It is critical for all members of the ALCDSB to experience authentic welcome, acceptance and love for exactly who they are, made in the image and likeness of God. We continue to work to ensure actions go beyond simple words or symbols of recognition. Pride Month also serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by 2SLGBTQIA+ communities globally, from stigma, discrimination, violence and human rights violations.

On June 1st, the Progress Pride flag will be raised outside of the board office again this year to represent the solidarity of all schools and sites across the system for Pride Month. This flag is a public symbol that communicates that as a Catholic Education system, we see you and stand with you in solidarity. *

*ALCDSB schools will adhere to flag protocols outside of school buildings, by continuing to display only the Canadian flag. However, Progress/Pride flags may be flown inside school buildings.
