Dear families, 

As a follow up to the communications sent home on March 8, 2023, with respect to the notification of the new Kingston West Boundary, this letter provides an update on the opening date for our new Catholic Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 school. The Board of Trustees were updated on Tuesday, April 25 regarding the proposed opening date of fall 2023. At this meeting, Trustees were provided with information related to project delays, due to the ongoing pressures of construction supply chain issues and product availability. 

These unforeseeable circumstances have created a lag in completion timelines. As a result of the information shared:

• The projected opening date of the Kingston West Catholic Elementary School, located at 386 Holden Street, is moved to September 2024. 

• Students who are Kingston West eligible will stay in their home school for the duration of the 2023-2024 school year. 

• Further information about the new school will be shared in the fall of 2023 with current home school Principals, who will then share updates with families as new information becomes available.

The ALCDSB commits to creating an opening plan that successfully supports the transition of families to our new Catholic school. We thank you for your patience and understanding for circumstances that are beyond our control.
