Dear Parents/Guardians, I am writing to you today to provide an update with regards to the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) job action. OECTA has announced that they would be taking part in a one-day full withdrawal of services on Thursday, March 5, 2020. Due to these full withdrawal of services, all ALCDSB schools will be closed to students on Thursday, March 5, 2020 if an agreement is not reached prior to these dates. In addition, the enhanced administrative job action by OECTA members will continue. This means that OECTA members will only undertake their scheduled teaching and supervision duties. They will not accept additional tasks or assignments. Teachers will continue to provide extra-curricular activities. The declaration of and continuation of this job action is a result of central (provincial level) negotiations and decisions that will be made at that level. At ALCDSB, we do not control the decisions regarding job action. We are uncertain of the possibility and duration of this job action. ALCDSB will continue to monitor this job action closely and provide parents/guardians with updates through the board website, www.alcdsb.on.ca and through school websites and social media.
