This year the ALCDSB is pleased announce the addition of a third Student Trustee position to support and uphold Indigenous student voice and to ensure the Board’s diverse student population is well represented.

Evelyn Shakell, entering grade 12 at Nicholson Catholic College (NCC) this fall, has been appointed by her peers to assume the position of Indigenous Student Trustee.
Evangelyn Kelvin (EJ), Student Trustee, Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School takes Oath of Office, and is welcomed by David DeSantis Director of Education.
Evangelyn Kelvin, better known as EJ, entering grade 12 at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School (HCCSS) this fall, will represent the eastern constituency of ALCDSB.
Shivani Narendranath, Student Trustee, Nicholson Catholic College takes Oath of Office, and is welcomed by David DeSantis Director of Education.
Shivani Narendranath, entering grade 12 at Nicholson Catholic College (NCC) this fall, will represent the western constituency of ALCDSB.
In the role of Student Trustees, Evelyn, EJ and Shivani, will act as heads of the Student Senate.
“It is the responsibility of the student trustee to inform the Senate of issues affecting students across the board, to gather student opinion and provide each high school council with an opportunity to share their ideas with them,” said Terry Shea, Chair of the Board.
The student trustee attends monthly Committee and Board Meetings and other commitments throughout the school year. The student trustee is also part of the Ontario Student Trustees' Association, which is the voice of students across Ontario.

The Board of Trustees also bid farewell to outgoing Student Trustees, Mary Mekhaeil and Marlow Slatter on Tuesday night and thanked them for their service.

Student trustees make a significant contribution, representing all elementary and secondary students' system wide.
The ALCDSB looks forward to welcoming its new Student Trustees as it continues on the mission to build faith-filled learning communities where each member is loved, inspired, and successful.
The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board serves approximately 12,000 students, employs over 1,400 full-time equivalent staff and covers a geographical area of more than 16,000 square kilometers.
