If you happened to walk by the JUC gym yesterday, you might have noticed a huge fight going on. No it wasn't Mr. Santos' Mathletes slaying a fourth degree differential equation. Nor was it Macklers Chess team battling over the Queens Gambit Opening . The battle royale being held in the gym yesterday was none other than the Bill McLeod Memorial wrestling tournament hosted by the RND Wrestling Team each year. Teams from across the province showed up for the event. Great medal winning performances were put on by veterans Shawn Stagner, Kurtis Schell, Xavier Trudell-Whan, Mason Stringer, Neebin Hunter, Victoria Baker, I saac Coles and Graham Jansen. Sarnia Bluewater import, Patrick Golob was impressive in his first tournament …winning a gold medal at 77 kilos. While other outstanding performances were posted by rookie wrestlers like grade 12 Jacob Harpell and Chelsea Turcotte. Great start to the season Panthers. Practices continue all of next week.
