Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM)

The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board's Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM)​ programs will suit students pursuing all pathway destination(apprenticeship, college, university or the workplace) who want to explore and refine their career goals and make informed choices about their next steps after secondary school.

Through a combination of sector related courses, certifications, career exploration opportunities and on-the-job co-op experiences, students are able to develop essential work habits and skills and acquire specialized knowledge in their field of interest.  The programs allow students to focus on career paths that match their interests while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

The following SHSM programs are offered at ALCDSB secondary schools: 

Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School, Kingston: Information & Communication Technology

Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic High School, Kingston: Arts & Culture, Non-Profit

Nicholson Catholic College, Belleville: Health & Wellness, Information & Communication Technology, Transportation 

St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School, Belleville: Information & Communication Technology, Hospitality & Tourism, Sports

St. Paul Catholic Secondary School, Trenton: Non-Profit
