2023 Schulich Leader Scholarship recipient for Queen's University is Keegan Amos, Grade 12 student, St. Paul Catholic Secondary School, Trenton, Ontario.

“Keegan is an exemplary student and achieves well above expectations in all areas of curriculum,” said Nickie Harrison, Guidance Counsellor and Department Head of Student Services at SPCSS. “Keegan’s ability to excel, while at the same time, remain humble, is a skill that is not easily mastered, but one that Keegan has embraced with ease, which is why we believe Keegan is truly deserving of the recognition and accolades that come with the Schulich Leader Scholarship.”

The scholarship Keegan is receiving is valued at $100,000 and will be distributed over a four-year period. All 100 recipients are pursuing a degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program at one of 20 partnering universities. The candidate must also be planning to pursue a career in one of more of the following areas: technology, engineering, entrepreneurship, and business enterprise or applied scientific research.

“I was in total shock when I found out that I had been selected for the Schulich Leader Scholarship. First, I called my mom and then immediately began emailing all the teachers who supported me in my application process,” said Amos.

“Keegan’s leadership qualities are exhibited in church, school and in the greater community. Not only has Keegan been so generous to volunteer time, but Keegan has also demonstrated entrepreneurial skill, by running tutoring services as a small business, to help earn money for school,” said Lisa Romano, Principal of St. Paul Catholic Secondary School.
