Kingston, ON – The chapel at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School has been formally named after St. André Bessette. The official naming was marked in a brief liturgy in the chapel Thursday morning. The naming service took place following the first whole school mass of the school year and the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

“The chapel has served the school as a dedicated space for peace, prayer, and liturgy", said Terri Daniel, Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School Principal. “In recent years, our leadership team discerned that naming the chapel would bring spiritual fruits to the school and that by giving the chapel an official title, it will elevate the presence of the chapel within the school community and allow it to become a more prominent aspect of the school's identity", she said.

The naming of the chapel after St. André was a joint selection made by students and staff last spring for his connection with the Congregation of Holy Cross, his humble character, his willingness to care for the ill and his importance to Canadian heritage. Both parties agreed that the Patron Saint's life can serve as inspiration to all, grounding the faith to history by a concrete witness.
