Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School Teacher Receives Ballie Award

Queens-viguide-homepage-logo-1200x810-2x.jpgCongratulations to ALCDSB Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School teacher Nadia Bernabei, for being a 2022 recipient of the prestigious Queen's University Baillie Award for Excellence in Secondary School Teaching.

Bernabei was nominated for the award by former ALCDSB student Emma Smith. Smith who has recently graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing Science from Queen's University, credits Bernabei for offering extra support to her students and a safe space in her mathematics classroom. In her nomination, Smith describes Bernabei as instrumental in helping her make the decision to study nursing at Queen's and to find joy and passion in learning and describes Ms. Bernabei's passion for learning as having a “keen sense for guiding students to determine what they need to be their best selves".

The Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School teacher was honoured at Queen's graduation ceremonies this week along with other high school educators who had a major influence on a graduating student's journey to post-secondary education.
