Dear parents/guardians,

I am writing to update you on the mandatory mask policy in our Catholic schools. At the September 14th Issues & Directions Committee Meeting, the ALCDSB Board of Trustees approved a motion making masks mandatory for Junior and Senior Kindergarten students during the 2021-2022 school year.

Here is the motion that was approved by the Board of Trustees:

That the Board of Trustees approve the extension of the Ministry of Education’s mandatory mask mandate to include Kindergarten students in school and on buses, subject to approved government exemptions.

This motion was made to support the continued health and safety of all students and staff within our Catholic schools.

Kindergarten students will not face disciplinary action regarding non-compliance with this direction.

As you may be aware, the Ministry of Education does require mandatory masks for all students in Grades
1 -12. This includes student transportation, in classrooms, and in common areas such as hallways.

All staff, visitors, and workers will be wearing masks while attending our Catholic schools and work sites.

If you have any questions, please speak with the school Principal. For more information on ALCDSB's Return to School Plan, including other Health and Safety measures, please read through the plan here

Thank you,
