Dear ALCDSB Catholic communities,

All of us are shocked and saddened by the events that unfolded in Portapique, Nova Scotia that past weekend. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected, and we are grateful for the bravery of the emergency personnel who acted quickly to protect the community.

Although we cannot be together in person, it is essential that when we are connecting with one another, we do so with kindness and empathy.

Our schools may be closed but our Catholic educators and support staff will continue to ensure that our remote emergency learning connections with students are safe spaces. Support is available for anyone who is feeling vulnerable – at any time. Please encourage anyone who is struggling to seek out that support by talking to a friends, a parent or caregiver, a family member, a teacher or a colleague.
