ALCDSB Graduation Rates

April 24, 2019

graduation cap imageThe Ontario Ministry of Education has released the board specific graduation rates for the 2013- 2014 cohort. The ALCDSB 4 year graduation rate is 87.3% and the 5 year graduation rate is 91.3% for the 2013-2014 cohort.

The Province of Ontario did not published a 4 year graduation rate nor a 5 year rate of this cohort. This is the fifth publication of board specific graduation results from the Ontario Ministry of Education. The graduation rates for ALCDSB are a clear indicator that our strategic priority of an engaged community of learning that promotes high levels of student achievement, in a culture that supports the belief that all students can learn, is successfully implemented.

It is vital as a board that we continue to strive for this strategic priority each year. Graduation is one indicator of student success and achievement during secondary school. To achieve an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), a student must complete 30 credits (18 compulsory and 12 student options), pass the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) and complete 40 hours of voluntary community service.

The graduation rate does not include students who continue their education beyond year 5; students who earn Ontario Secondary School Certificates (OSSC) or Certificates of Accomplishment; students who return as adult learners and graduate.

The following chart indicates the comparison of the graduation achievements of ALCDSB and the Province:
