ALCDSB Hiring Director of Education

ALCDSB logoThe Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board is seeking a visionary Catholic leader as Director of Education who will champion the principles and values of Catholic education and provide strategic leadership to this progressive and innovative school system.  The Board’s vision is that Catholic schools in the ALCDSB inspire and nurture strong communities of faith, engaged communities of learning and compassionate communities of service. The Board is committed to academic excellence and the relentless pursuit of success for each student and staff member, fostered within faith-filled Catholic learning environments.  

The Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board serves approximately 11,400 students in 32 elementary schools, 5 secondary schools and 5 adult learning sites. The ALCDSB operates with a budget of about 158 million dollars and has approximately 1400 employees.   

Stretching from Prince Edward County in the south to Algonquin Park in the north, major centres include Kingston, which is consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in Canada; Prince Edward County, which is one of Ontario’s most popular vacation spots; Belleville and Quinte West, which have beautiful parks and open spaces.  Within the jurisdiction of the Board there are excellent post-secondary education opportunities and health care facilities. The school board administrative offices are located in Napanee, which is in close proximity to the major centres. 

The successful candidate will be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers and hold an academic Supervisory Officer’s qualifications (pursuant to Reg. 309 of the Education Act). The candidate will bring an outstanding record of achievement in progressively senior leadership positions, with a minimum of three years of supervisory officer experience, with a proven commitment to effective communication and a collaborative style of leadership. This individual will maintain strong community relationships and will inspire staff to provide the highest quality of Catholic education for students.  

Reporting to the Board of Trustees through the Chair of the Board, the individual will have a strong sense of integrity, a commitment to social justice, and an inclusive approach in dealing with all staff and students. The successful candidate will work co-operatively with the Board, guided by the mission of Catholic education.
