Volunteering

We welcome parents and community members to volunteer within our school community and we greatly appreciate the gift of your valuable time. Volunteer opportunities include (but are not limited to): becoming a member of our School Council; reading with individuals and/or small groups to help build fluency; helping prepare food for our Breakfast Program (Tuesday and Thursday mornings) and/or the Friday Snack Trays; helping to serve food at such School Council events as Spaghetti Lunches and the Shrove Tuesday; and as chaperones on trips and/or athletic events. School Council sends out a form each Fall to each family that outlines the different roles that volunteers can serve within our school. If you are interested in volunteering you can also contact the school office and we can then make staff aware of your interest. Please know that Board's Volunteers in Schools Policy mandates that any adult volunteers must have a current (within the last 2 years) Vulnerable Sector Check on file at the school if they are to have regular and direct contact with our students. These criminal background checks can be done (free of charge for volunteers) at our local OPP Detachment. The forms are available in the school office.  Please know that it is also expected that each volunteer in the school will be discrete and will respect the confidences of the principal and the staff in all matters relating to students and the operation of the school.
