Welcome Back – 2020/2021
We extend a special welcome to all of the students and their families who are joining us for the first time. Thank you once again for your patience as we navigate the uncharted waters of schools being open during Covid-19. We have had to make changes with respect to how we do so many things and we continue to adapt as changes are announced. We welcome Ms. Tara McEnery back to her position of Vice-Principal of our two schools. We welcome our new staff members Ms. Sarah Doney who will be with us this year while Mrs. Kelli Ronholm is on Maternity Leave as well as Mrs. Jennifer Madill (Youth Worker) who is also on Maternity Leave (her replacement for the 2020-2021 school year is AnnaPaula Young).
Please take the time to
read our newsletter that is available on line (under Parent Information). In our newsletter, we do our best to keep you informed of activities in our School Board, our school, our parishes and in the community as well. This year we are making a real effort to not send home paper copies to you unless we require a hard copy for our files. To that end, we ask that ALL parents / guardians sign up to receive our newsletter and calendar electronically. We will also be moving forward to only producing a newsletter once a month. Please also check us out
and follow us on Twitter @alcdsb_omer (you will see a link to our Twitter feed on the home page of this website as well).
Catholic Education is about the
education and formation of all children in Christ. Our students are both formed
in their faith and educated to become citizens of the world who can transform it
into a more just and loving society. We encourage our parents to become involved
in our school community by participating in school activities, School Council
and/or through volunteering. We value the interconnectedness of school, church
and home and recognize that this is what sets us apart.
Lastly, you will recall that I am also the Prinicipal of our sister school, St Martin of Tours in Whitney. Due to the current situation with COVID-19, I am not able to visit St Martin of Tours so if you need to reach me that should be possible at Our Lady of Mercy. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
