Orange Shirt Day
September 22, 2020
On Wednesday, September 30th, we are asked to reflect nationally on the Residential School System in Canada. Orange shirts are worn in memory of all the Indigenous children whose culture, language, and freedoms were lost, oppressed, or challenged. As schools and a nation, we remember our Calls to Action.
Reconciliation is about our journey towards mending and building relationships with Indigenous communities that are based on intercultural empathy, understanding, and mutual respect.
Again, this year, we are inviting our students to wear an orange-coloured shirt on Wednesday, September 30th in recognition of Orange Shirt Day.
