Mrs. Rebecca Peters has served in various roles on St. James Major Catholic School Council. Her dedication to the school has been greatly appreciated over the years. "For the past few years I have loved being your Chairperson for the school council. I feel my time in this position has come to an end," wrote Mrs. Peters in her letter to the school. The St. James Major school community would like to take the time to thank Mrs. Peters for her commitment to the community. She has graciously commited to continue to work on school council related projects when needed.

At the School Council Meeting on January 24th, Mrs. Peters will chair her last meeting. There will be an election for a new chairperson or co-chairpersons. The meeting will be held in the Church basement at 11:30.  If you are interested in either the position of chairperson or co-chairpersons, please indicate your interest in writing to the Vice Principal, Dianne LaFortune. The names of all those who indicate their interest in writing will be put forward for a vote at the meeting. You do not have to be present at the meeting to put your name forward. The newly elected position/s of Chairperson or Co-chairpersons will be held until the fall of the 2019 - 2020 school year, when elections for all positions for school council will be held.

As a school council member, you can help your council discover new and exciting ways to contribute to the education of students in your school. Education is a partnership involving parents, students, teachers, principals, school boards, government, and the community. Your involvement in the council gives you the opportunity to strengthen that partnership, and to be part of a dedicated team working to support a high quality of education and an accountable education system for the children of Ontario. Your participation can make a difference!
