An Important Part of Your Child/ren's Lunch Bag: Water Bottles

September 19, 2018

At St. James Major, children need a clean water bottle on a daily basis to use our water station. Hydration is an important part in learning!  Water bottles increase instruction time and promote the healthy habit of drinking water. Water can also help with concentration throughout the school day.

A few simple water bottle requests:

1. Please make sure your child’s name is clearly written on their water bottle. Label each bottle, if your child has more than one.

2. Please only send water bottles that can be closed tightly to avoid spills. Parents/guardians are encouraged to do the spill test at home.

3. Please ensure that your child/ren’s water bottles are durable enough to withstand the active environment of the classroom (e.g. being knocked of a desk).

4. For health reasons, water bottles are to be brought home each night to be washed and returned to the school each day.

By including a water bottle in your child/ren's lunch bag each day, your child/ren are more likely to drink water during the school day. Parents/guardians may find that having several water bottles available beneficial to meeting their child/ren's need for a water each day.
