Pancake Breakfast

Students and staff of Holy Cross enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast during Lent. A big thank you to the ladies from our Brown's Cafeteria Staff who cook most of the pancakes. Serving up the pancakes are students and staff from Student Council, CICS' Executive, Green Team and the Jamaica Mission Team. With golden waffles, French toast, and even gluten free pancakes on the menu, everyone can enjoy a hearty breakfast. Funds are raised for the Jamaica Mission Project. Thank you to all for their support of this fundraising event for our Share Lent Campaign.

Jamaica Mission Trip

In March, senior level students and staff supervisors travel to Kingston, Jamaica on the Jamaica Mission Trip. They spend their days tutoring at two school projects sponsored by the St. Patrick’s Foundation as well as visiting residents at St. Monica’s, a home for the abandoned elderly.

Some of the money raised during our Share Lent Campaign, including our pancake breakfast, goes to support the St. Patrick’s Foundation in Jamaica to provide basic school supplies for the students in their schools (i.e. pencils, pens, colouring books, crayons, rulers, small notebooks etc.) and sports equipment for their teams (i.e. soccer balls, basketballs, jerseys). Our support also helped pay for the construction of a fence that will be built around the school yard at Riverton City Early Childhood Centre to provide a safe and protected space for children to play.

CICS staff and students visit Rosewood Retirement Home to visit with senior citizens. Crusaders spend time conversing with residents, enjoy tea and cookies, and also perform a sing-song.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

In October, Holy Cross Period 1 Homeroom classes participate in a food drive for the needy in preparation for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving Food Drive boxes are placed in Homeroom classes for students to place non-perishable food items in. Donations from the food drive are given to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in advance of the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend.
