Principal's Welcome Message

École Catholique Cathédrale is a junior kindergarten to grade 8 French Immersion school located in downtown Kingston. As much as possible, the language of communication with students is in French. All subjects are taught in French except for English, Mathematics and Religion.

The downtown location of the school provides wonderful enrichment opportunities for students. Classes are able to easily access the nearby library, Queen's University, City Hall, high schools, Hotel Dieu Hospital and St. Mary's Cathedral, outdoor skating rink, Market Square and various parks.

École catholique Cathédrale has a large catchment area and students are bused from many different neighbourhoods in the eastern and northern parts of Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board.

The staff, parents and St. Mary's parish work hard to provide a vibrant school community that provides the additional challenge of learning a second language. The school emphasizes academic excellence as well as the development of the whole child: spiritually, physically and emotionally. Students are encouraged to volunteer and contribute to the school and local community in many ways.

The staff and volunteers at École catholique Cathédrale offer many extra curricular activities which include intramural sports, Guardiens Écolos, Social Justice League and Chess Club.

École Catholique Cathédrale enjoys a healthy partnership with the School Council. Parent volunteers are active and help with many school functions such as hot lunch and special events.

École Catholique Cathédrale is a community of life long learners. Students are given many opportunities to develop their talents, strengths and faith in addition to learning a second language. Many of our graduates are on the honour rolls in high school and some will continue to take the extra challenge of an enriched program called the International Baccalaureate Program.

We believe in a partnership between home, school and church to provide our students with an excellent Catholic education in safe, caring environment.
