Welcome, everyone, to the 2020 school year at St. Carthagh Catholic School!
The start of a new school year can be both exciting and a little intimidating, and in the midst of a global pandemic, it is definitely a unique one! It is still a wonderful time to renew old friendships and offers the opportunity for new relationships where we may pray, work and learn together in Catholic Education. This
year, our Board's new mission/vision statement is ALL OUR WELCOME IN THIS PLACE! It
reminds us that God loves us all, and that ALCDSB encourages us
to do the same for one another. This year, we will continue focusing on the Catholic Graduate Expectation of being a Collaborative Contributor. God designed us to be part of a larger community of believers and we plan to celebrate all of the ways that TOGETHER IS BETTER (near and far)! Our mission is to have OPEN HEARTS (Discipleship), OPEN MINDS (Scholarship), and OPEN HANDS (Stewardship).
Despite the challenges and changes of this year, we serve a God who WILL see us through. There is nothing that we can't achieve if we keep our eyes on Him. This time at home has reminded us how much WE LOVE YOUR CHILDREN! As Catholic educators, it is our vocation, our calling, to serve, teach and love our students. Being apart has reminded us that this is the best part of our job and we can't wait to be together again.
St. Carthagh Catholic School enjoys a strong tradition of support and collaboration with our parish, our families, and our community. I am excited to join this wonderful community again this year and look forward to getting to know our newest Cardinals throughout the year.
Lord, we thank You for this new school year and for all of the opportunities we will have to learn and grow with one another. We ask that you help us to celebrate how fearfully and wonderfully we are made , and the way in which you designed us - giving us many gifts and strengths that are meant to be shared! Help us to build each other up and grow in our ability to accept and appreciate each person that you place before us. Keep us close to you as we navigate new waters. Keep us healthy, safe, and strong as we lean on You and one another.
In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen.
Looking forward to a fantastic year of learning!
Yours in Catholic Education,
Mrs. Heather Healey, Principal
