Letter from the Director of Education - January 20

January 20, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Following the recent announcement from the provincial government, we are pleased to confirm that all ALCDSB students will return to their classrooms to resume in-person learning this Monday, January 25th. This change is due to our region's success in reducing case numbers and is in alignment with our coterminous school boards.

Our partners at Tri-Board Student Transportation will resume regular service for all ALCDSB students.

Please note students enrolled in the ALCDSB Elementary Remote Learning School will see no change from their regular programming.

As we head back into the classroom, families should be aware that all public health guidelines and safety protocols – including daily screening, mask wearing, hand-washing, and physical distancing – will continue to be enforced within schools, and on school busses.

For more information on screening and how to schedule testing please use the links to the paper and online screening tools below.

While the provincial stay-at-home order, and state of emergency do remain in place, the Chief Medical Officer of Health has confirmed that transmission of COVID-19 in schools has been low, and schools remain a place for students to learn safely. This is especially true for the regions within our board, and I am proud of our local communities for their commitment to staying safe and staying home during the past few weeks.

Our Catholic community welcomes our staff and students back with a great sense of hope and optimism. However, it is critical to continue our adherence to all Public Health guidelines.

Thank you again for your partnership and resilience in the face of unprecedented challenges, as we continue our mission to build faith filled learning communities where each member is loved, inspired, and successful.

β€œGod is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1

Sincerely,

David DeSantis
