In a thrilling,
five set, come from behind, over two hours in length, championship
match; the RND Panthers Junior Girls Volleyball team retained their
KASSAA crown with a win over the Golden Eagles of Sydenham High School.
The Panthers fell behind to start the first set and despite a furious
comeback dropped the first set 28 - 26. Sydenham burst out to a signficant
lead in the second set and again held on to win 25 - 23. EOSSAA

Girls Volleyball Headed Back to Bartlett 02.19.09
RND won in a straight set victory at the Congregation of Notre Dame Gymnasium over a determined Bayridge squad. Set scores were 25-12, 25-21, and 25-11. Strong net play from middles Emma Stucke and Jory Mcdonald proved to be too much as the pair combined for 15 kills. Mary Macdonald was the anchor in the back row and recorded a team high 6 digs. The Girls will face the Sydenham Golden Eagles at the Bartlett gym for the KASSAA championship. RND hopes to successfully defend the title they captured last season. VictoryThe RND Junior Girls overcame some service problems early in the match to beat inner city rival KCVI quite comfortably. Match scores were 25-11, 25-12 and 25-9. Jenny Wright and Mary Allward led the offence with 6 kills apiece, Shauan Hogan registered 18 assists and Clara Langley provided the consistent serving off the bench to score 7 aces. Court Win Versus the Crusaders 02.10.09
The RND Junior Girls finished off a perfect season with a convincing win against crosstown rivals Holy Cross. All players saw action as the girls won three straight sets. Match scores 25-14, 25-5, 25-23. Mary Allward recorded 8 service points, libero Elizabeth De Sousa had some clutch digs, and Rachel Bouvier worked some solid offense up at the net. Match scores were- 25-13, 25-10, 25-14. Next up for the Panthers are the Quarterfinals on Tuesday. Good luck girls! St.
Pat’s Tournament - Results
During the semester turnaround weekend, the RND Junior Girls competed
in the St. Patrick’s Invitational Junior and Senior Tournament.
This was a particularly impressive as the girls competed in both the
Junior and Senior divisions as two separate teams.Facing a very tough round robin schedule, the girls competing in the senior division placed third in their pool, holding their own and keeping match scores tight. The girls showed they had what it took to compete in a higher division and were cool under pressure. Outstanding leadership and play emerged from all of the girls, most notably players Jenny Wright and Jory McDonald. With an all-grade nine squad in the junior division, the girls showed what next year’s team is capable of achieving. At the helm was Coach Jim Londry, inspirng the junior Panthers to play their very best. The girls, led by team MVP Clara Langley and dedicated play by setters Kathleen Hogan and Mackenzie Arnold, dropped only one set in the entire tournament, defeating the Mentor Jr.s for the Junior tournament gold medal. Exams on a Win 01.19.09The RND Junior Panthers played the KCVI Blues today, maintaining their perfect 9-0 season. The girls took the game in three sets, led offensively by middle Jory McDonald with 8 kills and 2 blocks. Coming off a winning tournament in Smiths Falls, the Junior Girls squad was ready to play against the Napanee team. The girls took the game with scores of 25-15, 25-27, 25-10 and 25-15. Another great game by the RND junior squad tonight against Frontenac, last year's KASSAA finals competitors. The first set went 25-12 with 8 service points and clutch digs by Eden Hataley. The second set score was 25-16 with a strong performance by Clare Kenney, recording 5 kills at the net. The final set was tight at 27-25 but Regi remained cool under pressure with great defense and setting by Kathleen Hogan. The girls are heading north to Smiths Falls for a tournament this weekend. RND Junior Girls began their 2009 season with an impressive 3 sets to 0 victory over Bayridge (25-15, 25-7, 25-11). A smiling Emma Lambert registered 7 kills and Mary Allward added 6 kills and 3 digs to lead the team. Next up is a rematch of last years final against Frontenac. Panthers
Topple Black Knights on Tuesday 12.17.08
The Junior Panthers kept their season perfect at four wins and zero losses with a 3-1 victory over Lasalle. After dropping their first set 22-25 to the Black Knights, the girls came back to take the next three 25-17, 25-18 and 25-20. Solid serving by Chelsea Roman helped turn the tides for Regi. Setter Mackenzie Arnold registered 12 assists and made strong plays up at the net for her hitters. Girls Off to A Great Start 12.10.08The Junior Girls improved to three wins and zero losses on their season. After dropping the first set to the Golden Eagles, RND found their game to storm back and win the next three. Match scores were: 21-25, 25-11, 25-20 and 25-17. Jenny Wright led the way with 10 kills and rock steady passing. Shauna Hogan made all of her hitters look better by registering 27 assists. Jocelyn Sutton had her best game of the year from the libero position with 8 digs. This was a particularly impressive win as earlier in the day RND sent to equally competitive teams to compete at Nicholson Collegiate in Belleville. Combined the girls won 22 of 25 sets they played in and the combined team went on to capture the gold medal over a very good team from St. Theresa's (Belleville). All the girls should be proud of their team building during the day and the steady improvement of both team and individual skills. Rest up and enjoy your weekend!! Season Opening Win 12.02.08 Playing the first match of the season, the Junior Panthers overcame some early season rust to cruise to a straight set victory (25-11, 25-10, 25-17). Maddy Londry recorded 10 service points in the 3rd set to score the victory as the girls had fallen behind 10-8. Fellow newcomer Clara Langley recorded 5 kills to lead a well balanced offence.
