Volleyball Captures EOSSAA Crown 02.25.08
The Regiopolis Junior girls Volleyball team defeated three strong teams to become AAA EOSSAA Champions in Smith Falls. Regi had no trouble with TISS from Brockville, taking both sets 25-13 and 25-20, with the help of 10 consecutive serves from Emily Robertson and 5 digs from Megan Hutcheson. The Panthers played a solid match against Smith Falls in their RedHawks own gym, climbing back from being down a set to win 2-1 (23-25, 25-10, 15-9). Jory McDonald landed 9 kills and 4 blocks and Annie McNeely had 5 service aces. After losing to Fellowes from Pembroke in pool play 2-0 (23-25, 21-25), Regi had a tough challenge ahead of them, facing Fellowes for a rematch in the Championship Game. With the continued astounding leadership and all-round play of Alicia Deodato, the Panthers were able to sweep the hard-working Fellowes team 2-0 (25-23, 25-19) to win the EOSSAA crown. Jory McDonald led the way with 7 kills and 3 blocks and Annie McNeely added 6 kills and 4 digs. This caps off the girls spectacular volleyball season. to Bartlett for Championship Victory 02.17.08
The win sealed RND's third volleyball championship of the present school year. RND has captured half of the basketball and volleyball championships contested at Bartlett this season. Classic Semi-Final Victory 02.17.08
The Regiopolis Junior Girls came from behind for the 2nd consecutive playoff game to win (18-25, 25-15, 22-25, 25-14, 19-17) in a spectacular 5th set 19-17. The Regi girls came out tentatively in the 1st set, facing a very talented KCVI team. After losing the first set, the team gained confidence and momentum and took the 2nd set decisively. However, KCVI was not ready to back down and re-gained the lead with a third set victory. Going into the 4th set, the girls knew they faced a challenge to come back from being down 2-1. Jory McDonald continued her dominating play and landed 6 kills, leading the Panthers to a 4th set victory and setting up the spectacular 5th set. Regi fell behind early 5-0, climbed back into the game, but were still down 8-7 at the break. Outstanding play by Melanie Robb and Annie McNeely in the back court and Jenny Wright's consistent smart net play pushed Regi to one point from victory with a 14-10 lead. With KCVI's season on the line, Nadia Putos' 5 consecutive powerful serves put the Blue's in the lead 15-14. The game went back and forth for the next 7 points with Regi facing elimination another 2 times. Time in Quarter-Finals
The Regiopolis Junior Girls staged a stunning comeback to defeat a stubborn Ernestown team in 5 (25-21, 21-25, 22-25, 25-15, 16-14) sets. An energetic, focused Panther team came out strong and took the first set 25-21. Solid play by Ernestown allowed them to win the next 2 sets. Regi was not ready to fall over and came back to win the 4th set decisively (25-15) to tie up the match. In the final set, Regi fought back from a 10-5 deficit. Ernestown was one point away from victory when Chelsea Roman came up with a spectacular play to gain back the momentum needed to carry Regi to a 16-14 victory. Jory McDonald had the best game of her season with 17 kills and 11 blocks. Regi will now need to carry this momentum to their semi-final match on Thursday. Back
on Track Versus HC 2.8.08
The Panthers finished off regular season play with a 3-1 victory over the Holy Cross Crusaders (25-10, 14-25, 25-18, 25-14). The Jr. Girls dominated the first set with Jory McDonald and Jenny Wright combining for 9 kills and Alicia Deodato serving 11 straight points. After a mental breakdown in the 2nd set, the Panthers regrouped and took the final two sets. All sixteen players contributed on the court to the victory. Keeps Rolling 1.10.08
The Junior Panthers recorded a 3-0 win (25-11, 25-22, 25-17) over the fiesty Napanee Hawks. Alicia Deodato and Bridget Londry combined for 31 service points. Emily Robertson's key contributions at the net helped secure the victory. This sets up a battle of the undefeated teams on Tuesday, as the 8-0 Frontenac Falcons will visit the 8-0 Regi Panthers. ![]() Home
Win to Start the New Year 1.10.08
The 10 tournament games played on the weekend paid off for the Junior Panthers with a 3-0 sweep (25-10, 26-24, 25-12) over the talented Sydenham Golden Eagles. The win allows the Panthers to remain undefeated on the season with a 7-0 record. The victory was secured with great team play with many individual contributions. The Junior Girls struggled to remain undefeated on the season (25-18, 21-25, 25-11, 25-19). Mental errors and costly missed serves allowed the winless LCVI team to challenge the Panthers. The girls will have to play better if they hope to remain as one of the top teams in the league. Melanie Robb's net play and Alicia Deodato's overall hustle were bright spots for the Regi team.
