KASSAA Crown for RND Boys Hockey The Regi Boys' Hockey team capped off their undefeated season with a hard fought victory over a talented team from Frontenac. Regi's defencemen turned away the Frontenac rush again and again with solid dependable play. Ben Blasko scored late in the game to put the Panthers up by one. Cal Scott and Chad Barrie both added one goal a piece to seal the championship for RND. Vadim Ignatov earned the shutout with some big saves. Congratulations to a very talented squad who played hard throughout their season and consistently demonstrated a high level of skill on the ice. The boys hockey championship is the nineth team KASSAA championship RND has captured during the current school year. Hockey Advance to KASSAA ChampionshipsThe RND Panthers defeated the Golden Hawks of Napanee 11-3 in a wild KASSAA Semi-Final shootout today at the Invista Centre. Excellent passing from one end of the ice to the other resulted in numerous odd man rushes and scoring opportunities for RND. RND High Scorers: Ben Blasko 3, Alex Shotton 1, Wyatt Cota 2, Chad Barrie 2, Hayden Hulton 1, Vinnie O'Sullivan 1, Casey Nontell 1. The Panthers will face Frontenac in the KASSAA final on Wednesday February 24th at 2:30 at Invista. Fans should find their way West to the KASSAA Final were the RND boys will be contesting their second straight KASSAA final. Goalie by Necessity in Napanee 02.02.10 When perennial Regi forward, Ben Blasko, showed up for the panthers final regular season game, he never would have guessed that he would end up wearing borrowed equipment and playing nets against a tough team from Napanee. Blasko played like he belonged between the pipes, leading Regi to a 2-2 tie after regulation and eventually a 3-2 victory after a tense shoot out. Contest Versus the CrusadersIn an exciting, face-paced game, Regi defeated Holy Cross to remain undeafeated for their season. Chad Barrie scored twice in the offensive end while Spencer Emery looked sharp in net. Rookie player, Adam Moodie, had the play of the game when he shut down a Holy Cross scoring opportunity that would have tied the game. Chad Barrie 2 goals. The Panthers posted a shut out win, with Spencer Emery providing the goaltending, over the cross-town rivals from KCVI. RND Scorers were: Callum Scott 2, Dan Fowler 3, Casey Nontell 2, Troy Wylie 1. Opening Victory Versus Bayridge 12.07.09 Strong defence and good passing allowed the Regi boys’ hockey team to dominate their season opener against the Bayridge Blazers. In their eight to nothing victory, Chad Barrie and Troy Wylie netted one goal each while Ben Blasko, Casey Nontell and Jeremy Turnbull each scored twice. Spencer Emery secured the shut out.
