OFSAA Track and Field Results 06.06.05
Veronica Catry represented RND in Windsor, Ontario at the Provincial Track and Field Championships. Veronica, her coaches and supporters were quietly confident about her conditioning and speed as she approached the 100m heats. Veronica ran in the fastest heat and her fourth place finish in this heat, at 13.03 seconds, stood as the sixth-fastest qualifying time overall. During the 100m final on Friday Veronica ran well in a highly competitive race, finishing 8th with a time of 13.22 seconds.

Regional Track and Field Results 05.27.05
Yesterday, four RND athletes travelled to Terry Fox Stadium in Ottawa to compete in six events at the East Regionals Track and Field Meet. All four athletes turned out great performances.  Jon Visentin ran the 1500m and 3000 m races and finished 8th and 9th.  Jairus Streight competed in a tough 3000m race at the senior division also finishing 9th with a great time.  Sonny Mercer, capped off his track and field career with a fifth place finish in the hurdles.  And Veronica Catry, a first year track athlete, will be moving on to represent RND at OFSAA.  She finished 9th in the 80 metre hurdles - no small feat for a newbie to the sport and went from 7th to 3rd in the Junior Girls 100m finals.  Veronica battled strong winds with a come-from-behind finish.  Everyone at RND wishes her well next week at OFSAA.

EOSSAA Meet in the Nation's Capital 05.18.05
22 RND athletes qualified in a variety of track and field events in yesterday's EOSSAA meet at Terry Fox Stadium in Ottawa. The day's results were as pleasant as the weather, with many athletes achieving personal bests.  Angela Lanteigne and Jon Visentin represented us well on Monday in the 1500m race, with Angela coming in 8th in the Midget Girls and Jon moving on with a fourth place finish in the Junior Boys.  Jon also qualified for East Regionals the next day in his 3000 m run.  Tuesday highlights include Veronica Catry - coming in 2nd in the Junior Girls 100m and third in the Sprint Hurdles - who continues to be a strong competitor on our team.  Sonny Mercer also placed third in his event - the Senior Boys sprint hurdles and returns once again to East Regional competition, despite an ongoing hip injury.  Todd Allward continues to be among the top high jumpers of eastern Ontario - looking forward to surpassing 1.95m next week.  Jairus Streight ran a great 3000m, coming in at 9.25.  He too looks promising in the week to come. Many of our other competitors performed personal bests and built on strengths for upcoming years.  It was a long but rewarding day for all.  We wish the best of luck to the athletes who will compete next week, at Regionals, again in Ottawa.
