Bobby Tozer
Spring 2001 - OFSAA Gold Medalist

From the Kingston Whig Standard
Patrick Kennedy

Bobby Tozer of Regiopolis Notre Dame won an OFSAA gold medal, in junior boys triple jump. A silver medalist as a midget last year, he bagged a 34-centimetre personal best with his first attempt, 13.43 metres. It stood for the victory.

"It wasn't raining yet and, I don't know, I think that was a pretty big factor in the fact that I got it," said Tozer, who watched as the skies opened for the remainder of the competition. He passed on his final three attempts, "because it was raining and I didn't want to kill myself."

"I was ahead and the next was maybe 13.20, to the 13.43 that I had. Then the second-last jump someone got 13.40. That scared me."

Tozer said he'd have jumped again if someone had taken his lead. "The wholetime I was preparing. It just happened the way it did. If anyone had come close to me I was going toj ump again but once it started raining the chances of anybody doing that dropped quite a bit."
