Set, Match! RND Tennis Wins EOSSAA Team Championship! 05.22.07
Hot off the heels of their KASSAA victory, the RND Tennis Team continued their winning ways and, at the end of the day, were crowned the 2007 EOSSAA team champions - another first for RND Tennis. This event featured the panthers in competition against 24 of Eastern Ontario s premier tennis programs over the one day competition on Tuesday. All members of RND tennis that qualified for the EOSSAA tournament contributed key victories that secured the Regi triumph. In a rematch of the Jr. Boys and Sr. Girls Doubles KASSAA finals, RND captured EOSSAA gold as Kyle Riel and Luke Jeroy edged out a respectable 8-5 victory over Ben Plazzotta and Mike Robinson, and, Sara Peters and Leslie Emmerson defended their EOSSAA title against long time rivals and teammates Jane Meehan and Laura Morganstern. Congratulations also goes out to EOSSAA finalists Ashley Blommestyn and Pat Zalewski in Jr. Mixed Doubles Sr. Girls Doubles to represent RND at OFSSA Tennis Championships 05.22.07 Sara Peters, Leslie Emmerson, Jane Meehan and Laura Morganstern will represent Eastern Ontario and RND in the OFSSA tennis championship tournament to be held on June 3rd to 5th at the prestigious Rexall Tennis Centre and York University in Toronto. Best of luck to the girls who will be competing against the best tennis players in the province.  RND
Tennis Captures First Ever KASSAA Team Championship 05.21.07After finishing second to KCVI at the KASSAA Championship Tournament for the last five years, Regiopolis Notre-Dame Jr. and Sr. Co-Ed Tennis teams dominated the competition and finished a convincing First Place in a field of eight Kingston schools capturing Regi s first ever KASSAA Tennis Team Championship. Congratulations goes out to all members of the RND Tennis team, each victory on the courts Friday contributed greatly to the overall team championship win. Leading the team to victory were three time KASSAA Champions Sara Peters and Leslie Emmerson in Sr. Girls Doubles, second time KASSAA champion Ashley Blommestyn and her new partner Pat Zalewski in Jr. Mixed Doubles, and first time KASSAA champions Kyle Riel and Luke Jeroy in Jr. Boys Doubles, and, Trina Ghiacy and Christine Crawford in Jr. Girls Doubles. Special mention goes out to KASSAA finalists Ben Plazzotta and Mike Robinson in Jr. Boys Doubles, Michelle Bennett in Sr. Girls Singles, Jane Meehan and Laura Morganstern in Sr. Girls Doubles, Danielle Carquez and Tasia Vavassis in Jr. Girl Doubles, and, Tommy Sondy who lost 7-5 in a heart wrenching final set tiebreak in the Sr. Boys final. everyone who came to the final Jr. and Sr. tryouts this week at Richardson
stadium to continue to practice with the team. It was an extremely hard
decision this year (especially the Jr. Boys), but I feel that I have chosen
a team that will give RND the best chance at winning the KASSAA tournament.
Important Information for all members of the 2007 RND Tennis team: READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY! • We practice at Richardson stadium courts every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until the KASSA tournament on Tuesday May 15th • Starting tonight we have 10 practices until the tournament and I want you there at every one! • Practices are one hour long (3:15 – 4:15 pm), but you are encouraged to come early and stay late. (You need to get there and home on your own – carpool!) • The TEAM FEE is $45 dollars (Reduced from $50 as the KASSAA tournament will be supplying tennis balls this year.) PLEASE pay Mr. Stelter as soon as possible – I cannot order the T-Shirts until I have ALL the money. • If you are not on the KASSAA team roster but still want a T-shirt the cost is $15. • MAKE CHEQUES PAYABLE TO : RND Tennis |
