RND Rattles the Raiders 05.16.12 In a thrilling Senior boys quarter final match between North Kingston rivals RND and QECVI, the Panthers came out victorious in a 5-0 game played infront of an enthusiastic crowd of Rugby fans. The entire game was physically intense as both teams battled hard, rucking, tackling and mauling up and down the pitch. The Panthers demonstrated rock solid defense preventing QE from posting points. The only issue for Regi was dealing with the large amount of penalties against us. Two players entered the sin bin during the game, but even playing short handed, the Panthers held off the opponent. The only try of the game came from Jake Hulton who intercepted a pass, kicked the ball deep, and pounced on it in the goal 20 minutes into the first half. Definite redemption for the last time Jake played QE. Overall, a solid day of rugby. Now it's time to focus on the semi finals this up coming Tuesday. Rugby on Two Sites on Wednesday 05.09.12 The Senior Boys rugby team ended the regular season with a dominant performance over Bayridge. The boys used the opponent as a good tune up for playoffs along with preparation for the Red Hot tournament in Peterborough Tomorrow. Overall, good work boys. Now lets get ready for post season play.RND High Scorers: Tries: Jesse Stone, Tyson Thompson, Connor Plumpton, Nic Storr, Jared Ordorico, Rhys Davies, Chris Cruickshank. Golden Eagles at RND for Monday Rugby Action 05.07.12 After a slow start Regi s Senior Boys rugby team devoured the Eagles on a beautiful Monday afternoon. The starting fifteen played well when they wanted to but allowed for Sydenham to take a lead at half time. Before making a whole sale change of players, the original group showed the team that they have the heart to play. Right off the opening kick off to the second half, the boys took charge, won the ball and punched it in for a nice score by Taylor Reid. From there on, we did not look back. The Panthers controlled the play for the entire second half. Great runs made by Stone, Hulton, Storr and Ling. However, the Hard Hat going to the hardest working player on the field was unanimously Tyson Thompson who played hungry all game. Good work overall, lets correct a few mistakes, and be ready for Bayridge on Wednesday. Big Day Against Triple A, KCVI 05.06.12 The Regi Senior boys are officially rumbling! The Panthers started the game flying, with huge tackles right off the get go by Jared Odorico and surrounding forwards. The intensity led to a quick try scored by Brandon Zeiger. However, after a fast start, the boys slowed down a bit allowing KC to make it a tight game. But in the end, the Panthers were too much to handle as points were posted on a tired KC team. Better effort boys, but it needs to get better, and it will. Overall, nice victory. Rest up for Sydenham on Monday at home. RND High Scorers: Brandon Zeiger, Aiden Tamasauskas, Tyson Thompson, Nick Taylor, Jake Hulton 2 converts Old Fashion North End Clash 04.30.12 Finally! With a major sense of relief, the RND Panthers achieved their first win of the young KASSAA season. In hard fought battle vs the Raiders, the Regi boys were able to persevere and out hustle their opponents. After getting down by a try on a questionable pass that allowed QE to score, the Panthers bounced back with Jesse Stone punching in a try in the second half. With Hulton making the convert it gave the Panthers the lead and solid defense from there on led to the victory. It feels nice to finally get a win, but we have to maintain the hunger as we now look forward to a home turf match up against KC on Wednesday.
