RND Rugby Involved in "Touring" Games this Weekend 05.01.09 Rugby is a sport where mixing traveling, touring and competition has a long tradition. The RND Rugby teams are involved in games this weekend with opponents from far outside the Kingston Area. The RND Boys Rugby teams will be hosting a squad from Richmond Hill in an exhibition match on the Brother O'Gara field. The teams will share a meal and some stories together in the RND Cafeteria after the match. The RND Girls Rugby team is headed to a tournament at Ridley College for a tournament that will see the Panthers match up against some solid competition and enjoy the entire experience of sharing meals and accommodation with the other players involved in the tournament. Good Luck Panthers. Panthers Notch North End Win 04.29.09 Regi's junior rugby is begining to roll!! A great 19 to 10 victory was earned on QE's pitch by a commited RND squad. Players did an excellent job committing to tackles and rucks, which was lead by the tenatious play of Alex Shotten. Regi's forwards really laid it out on the line standing up to a strong QE team. But at the end of the day, QE could not match our forwards strong play which allowed the backs room to run hard and move the ball quick. Once again, Jesse Stone used his wheels to tap the ball down twice across the try line. Overall, it was a solid team effort, but notable mention goes to Jake Hulton for great positional play at fullback and a flawless game catching and even kicking for post. Mention also goes to Hayden Hulton who stepped up to take the lead at the fly-half position. Rest up Panthers and get ready for your next match! RND Get on the Board Versus the Blues 04.27.09 Regi's coming out party for their first win of the season was truly a team effort. Every member was a key factor in a 25-0 win over KCVI. The tempo was set by aggressive forwards who won many battles for the ball. This hard earned play was rewarded by three different fowards scoring tries on a hot Monday afternoon. The hard working forwards did a great job rucking, crashing the ball into opposition, and giving room for scrum half Callum Scott to move the ball to the backs. When the backs did get the ball they moved it with speed. Both Jerome and Luis showcased amazing hussle to score pretty tries. This great effort is going to be necessary when Regi has a tough match on their hands this Wednesday against QE. RND High Scorers: Matt Cook, Taylor Lloyd, Jerome Ntim, Luis Munoz, Neville Murphy. |
