Semi-Final
Success 05.22.12
Junior Boys Rugby: The heat, humidity and LaSalle Knights could not hold back the Regiopolis-Notre Dame Panthers from returning to their third KASSAA finals in a row! A great display of rugby was put on by the junior boys rugby team who ran up and down Brother O Gara s field. One of the players was quoted saying: Whenever our back got the ball, we scored. And scored often. Great runs by Sean, Xavier, and Lucas helped put the game out of reach. But the backs can t take all of the glory. Our forward pack helped shut down LaSalle's ball controlling forward play by tackling and counter rucking hard. Overall, a great day and another trip to KASSAA finals. RND High Scorers: JM Noel, Xavier Vigneau 2 tries, Ameen Aghamirian, Lucas Mortenson, Sean Mombourquette, Connor Tobin, Nick Carriere 3 converts. Golden Eagles at RND for Monday Rugby Action 05.07.12 Nick Carriere 1 tries 6 Converts RND Highlights: Wow! Regi s Junior boys ended their Kassaa regular season with a stunning victory on home turf today. Priming up for the playoffs, RND was determined to cement home field advantage by getting a big W against the Eagles. Regi was led by the phenomenal play of Connor Tobin who opened the scoring along with aggressive play by from flanker Marlon Acosta. Whenever the boys scored, which was often, they didn t say a word, but simply ran back to centre and waited for their opponent to give them back the ball. All in all, it was a great day of rugby and the juniors should be proud of a season without any defeats. Next up, Prescott Tournament Friday, then Kassaa playoffs.RND High Scorers: Ameen Aghamirian 2 tries, Brady Noonan 2 tries, Connor Tobin, Gage Dunleavy, Symeon Bellousis. Big Day Against Triple A, KCVI 05.06.12 The RND Junior Panthers must love nail bitters because they found themselves in yet another tight game. Regi and KC kept on exchanging scores throughout the day resulting in a tie game. Regi had momentum for the majority of the game and a few missed opportunities held them from being victorious. Outstanding play by our shifty backs who made a lot of defenders miss tackles. Also, our pack was led around the pitch all game long by our quiet dominant leader Connor Tobin. Consistent rucking, ball movement and a high motor by Connor really motivated our entire team. Overall, a solid effort boys. Get ready for Sydenham at home on Monday.RND Scorers: Lucas Mortenson-Truscott , Nick Carriere 1 try 1 convert, Chris Niles. Old Fashion North End Clash 04.30.12 The Junior Panthers are rolling through the KASSAA season with another impressive victory today over the QE Raiders. Regi kicked the game off with a bang as they were hungry for contact. RND controlled the ball most of the game due to organized play, hard running, and solid rucking. The forwards dominated the game with excellent running and consistently getting past the opponents defense. Notable mention goes to the wrecking ball Symeon Bellousis and the shifty Gage Dunleavy. As for the backs, whenever they got the ball they were always threatening and dangerous. Stu Mulholland played well at his first game as fly half, directing the offensive attack and creating some offense of his own, scoring an impressive 40 yard try. Overall, another solid effort boys! Keep it up for the match this Wednesday against KC at Regi. RND High Scorers: Gage Dunleavy, Gabe Laplante, Stu Mulholland, Nick Carriere 2 convert. Junior Rugby Triumphant at Home 04.25.12 The RND Panthers fought for another win on home turf, 15-8, against the Falcons on Wednesday. Regi got up early with a try scored by Sean Mombourquette, followed by another rumble of a try by JM Noel. The boys need to get ready for the second half of the season and their next game against QE on Monday. Hard Fought Draw Versus the Golden Hawks 04.23.12 A very cold, wet, muddy game set the tone for a hard fought scoreless draw against Napanee. The weather did not prevent the Panthers from playing aggressive rugby, tackling anything coming their way and rucking Napanee off the ball. Rest up boys, get warm, and be ready for a tough match against Frontenac this Wednesday at home. Regi Rugby Returns 04.18.12 The defense of the Junior KASSAA championship started off on the right foot with a 15-0 victory over the Lasalle Black Knights. The Panthers, comprised of many great athletes new to the sport, battled hard the entire game. Many players stepped up during their first experience playing the game of rugby. All three tries were scored by rookies, along with countless tackles, rucks, and offensive attacks. However, veteran leadership was necessary and Connor Tobin and Nick Zanet did a great job leading the pack. Overall, a great start to the season, but the war has simply just begun. It will be a long road to travel in order to retain city champ status, but a road in which we are ready to walk with heads held high. RND High Scorers: Adam Bailey, Ameen Aghamirian, Courtney Norris.
