Regi Rugby Returns - KASSAA Champs 05.27.11 Champions!!! After 21 years RND can finally claim title to a KASSAA Rugby championship. The Junior Boys capped off an undefeated season with a 19-7 victory over a hard working team from Napanee. It was a complete team effort that lead to the victory as everyone in the program contributed. The boys played smart rugby, committing few errors. Great athletism was on display as well as RND tackled hard, moved the ball with speed, and and had their opponent on the run for most of the game. Honourable mention goes to team captains Rhys Davies and Fred Scott for leading their team day in and day out. Mention also goes to gamer's Connor Plumpton and Aiden Tamasauskas who are game changers every time they hit the pitch. Also, Rookies Nick Zanet and Connor Tobin started and played well and we will be looking to them amongst others to defend the junior crown. Overall, a fantastic season, and a job well done. This victory has been earned after many years of labour! Junior Rugby Returns to Final-One More Step 05.18.11 For the second year in a row the junior boys rugby club is off to the finals!! The boys earned their ticket with a gusty performance over Lasalle in a 29-7 victory. After a sloppy start the boys came out strong in the second half. Hard workers were Cole Perry, Tyler Ling and Connor Plumpton, who made tackle after tackle. Now, its time to prepare for the final game of the season and be ready for redemption, and bring this perfect season to a close. KASSAA finals, here we come!! Once again, the forwards lead the way with physical play and complete determination to win the ball for our backs. Great performances were had by many players today but the team was lead by Tamasauskas and his amazing effort. So congrats on the season, but we all know that some redemption is in order, as the real season will begin with the playoffs. Rugby Continues to Improve 05.09.11One game away from an undefeated season!! After a slow start, the RND Panthers got their game faces on and out worked their opponent to a convincing 38-5 victory. The game was tense and competitive but RND displayed selfless tackles, amazing athletic skill and talent. The Forwards where lead by back row play of Connor Plumpton, Erik Freundorfer and Aiden Tamasauskas who who disrupted the opponent all game long. Due to these performances, the backs were able move the ball well and keep the opposition in check. The final game of the season will take place this Wednesday on home turf vs NDSS. Wednesday on the Brother O'Gara Field 05.04.11 The RND Panthers went into this contest against QE as heavy favourites, and with no suprise the junior boys worked their way to a 4 and 0 record. With lots of depth on the bench many players got in the action and they all stepped up. Honourable mention goes to the hard working forwards lead by Brandon Zeiger, Jacob Gordanier and Tyson English who made a ton of tackles and rucks. The backs were lead by the play of Harris McEachern who ran hard and moved the ball well to the outside. That is where Ryan Washington displayed his speed with two beautiful tries. Overall, good work, and keep up the intensity and be ready to bring it to Monday's game vs KCVI. Regi controlled the entire game, dominating the rucks and mauls as the forwards were tenatious in their play. Outstanding effort from the forwards lead by Connor Plumpton, Jared Ordorico and Nico Hart. The backs had their fair share of action as well, as Rhys Davies lead the charge with many heads up plays. Junior Boys Versus Loyalist 04.29.11 A very big victory for the junior boys rugby team as they easily rolled on to a 2 and 0 record. Nic storr got things moving quickly with two beautiful tries within the first five minutes. From there, Regi never looked back. A great team effort was put forth with many rookies getting their first rugby experience. On this note, honorable mention goes to rookie Troy Almedia who had a very big day scoring two tries and kicking four converts. Get ready for Frontenac on Monday boys! Junior Boys Off to a Flying Start 04.20.11 What a start to a highly anticipated season! The junior boys came out of the gates a little slow, with some seeing their first real rugby action, but once the mud started flying, the boys got rolling. Excellent tackling and rucking was displayed today by the two hard workers Nico Hart and Conner Plumpton. Their fantastic play opened the gates for our backs to run and score often. Spring 2011 - Tryouts Regiopolis-Notre Dame Student-Athletes return to school following the March break to find that RND coaches are preparing for the upcoming KASSAA Spring Sports season with information about sign-up meetings and tryout sessions available through: Hallway Posters, Morning Announcements and Postings on the RND Scoreboard web site. All RND Student-Athletes must complete and submit to a RND Teacher Coach a Student Athlete Participation Form before participating in any tryout session.
